Nationally Registered Forensic Peer Recovery Provider Certification
Eligibility
To be eligible for the NRFPRP credential, the candidate must meet the following qualifications:
- 17 years old (No high school diploma or GED required.).
- Reside in the USA or its territories.
- Documentation of current state or national certification/licensure in mental health, addictions, prevention, psychology, counseling, social work, criminal justice, nursing, medicine or related field.
- If not certified or licensed:
- Minimum 60 education hours.
- Minimum of 100 hours working in a criminal justice, behavioral health or addiction setting as a volunteer, intern or employee.
- Minimum one year of recovery from mental illness, substance use disorder, and/or behavioral addiction (eg. compulsive and addictive behaviors).
- Agree to comply with the PARfessionals® Code of Ethics.
- Submit candidate application and portfolio with required fee.
- Successful completion of the Nationally Registered Forensic Peer Recovery Provider (NRFPRP) examination.
Credential evaluation includes assessment of:
- Knowledge of addiction, recovery, peer support, ethics, whole health recovery, recovery planning, cultural competency, advocacy, trauma-informed care.
